Abe's here!

So now we have two kids. Lucky thing that the first one likes the second one. Abraham Leo came into this world midday on Friday with a yowl. He seemed less concerned with the weight of being named after two accomplished great-grandfathers than with the fact that it was chilly. Since then, we've been sitting around watching him yawn, squirm, wink, stretch, and eat, then changing diapers.

Max has been a champ of a big brother, showering Abe with affection and only taking out whatever resentment is natural for siblings on us. He does this by sort of spitting: "Pttttth" in response to questions. He also has developed an ear-shattering scream that woke up most of the maternity ward at the Brigham on Saturday night when we had to leave earlier than he wanted to. He screams aggressively and sort of pushes his face at yours when he does it. On the elevator coming back to our car from Leah's room, a woman said, "What's wrong with him?"

I said, "He's mad, and he's three." She did not seem to understand.

Either way, he loves Abe.
